This is a wonderful quote I have kept tucked away for a long time. It’s a great reminder of why we do what we do. Why we as cottage dwellers, love to work on house projects and why we like to make our home unique for us.

Something about the creative process drives us and keeps us going.  It feeds our senses and makes us happy.  It doesn’t really matter the style or the kind of house we live in. Whether it is new or old or always a work in progress.

What matters the most is that we have our heart, our passions and our personality in our home.

We all have heard the saying…Home Is Where The Heart Is, and that couldn’t be more true!  What keeps you inspired?  What keeps your passion alive to decorate and feather your nest?

For me its a love of doing anything creative with my hands. Getting sandpaper hands and paint under my fingernails. It’s the thrill of finding another treasure from my old barn to restore and make beautiful.

It’s the smell of new paint…

The thrill of a new refrigerator and the challenge of figuring out how we will fit it into the kitchen remodel…

The excitement of dusting off my old sewing machine this week and remembering my love of fabric creations…

The fun of adding fresh spring colors to my home…

And…starting a new project with my “Cottage Dude” so we can find a solution to our shoe problem!

These are things that keep me going.  What about you?  I hope that if you have lost some drive and passion that you will find it once again.  My wish is that you will stay inspired to fix up your home to suit you.  Make it unique for you and your loved ones.  Heartfelt decorating is what its all about!
